Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback therapy that involves teaching the brain how to function with more efficiency. For this treatment, sensors are placed on the patient’s scalp to evaluate brain wave activity, which is revealed on a real-time sound or video display.
The re-training and re-learning process is gradual. Here, the brain is observed in action, noting its improvements while correcting irregular patterns to more appropriate ones. For better monitoring, we utilize the most commonly used system, which is EEG neurofeedback, because it can effectively keep track of electrical brain activity.
Here at Achievement & Wellness Center, we use neurofeedback therapy to address a wide spectrum of brain dysregulations and their symptoms:
- ADD or ADHD
- Anxiety & depression
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Bipolar disorder
- Concussion, stroke & traumatic brain injury
- Learning disabilities
- Migraines
- Mood disorder
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder

Treatment Therapies
Achievement & Wellness Center uses state-of-the-art therapies to treat many disorders. These include psychotherapy, neurofeedback and heart wave variability.
Psychotherapy (cognitive behavioral therapy):
Clients are counseled through their entire treatment process to cope with past, present and future concerns. Generally, positive life changes and decisions result from the combination of neurofeedback and psychotherapy.
Neurofeedback:
A form of biofeedback, neurofeedback helps to restore normal brain wave activity and connectivity to calm the brain. This is done be training positive brain waves, increasing their frequency and connectivity. Many behavioral and emotional problems are the result of a dysregulation in brain waves. Once the brain waves are trained to produce more normal patterns, mood and behaviors also improve. Read more...
Heart wave variability (HRV):
An effective form of biofeedback, HRV training helps the individual self-regulate breathing and heart rate. This results in healthier mental, emotional and physiological states. It is a tool that the individual can use frequently in order to maintain calm, despite life’s trials. A combination of psychotherapy, neurofeedback and HRV will help individuals achieve very effective levels of self-regulation, control and balance.
Achievement & Wellness Center is committed to helping you change your life for the better. We serve the residents of Bucks, Montgomery, Mercer, Burlington and Philadelphia counties, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Austism Spectrum Disorder
Autism is defined as a psychosocial disorder with varying degrees of impairment of social interactions, communication and restricted interest and activities. Autism can be described as a disregulation disorder. Neuropsychological research using quantitative electroencephalograms (QEEGs) and brain maps have shown that brains of autistic children have connectivity problems. These children have areas of the brain that fail to communicate or communicate too much, resulting in disordered behaviors related to those brain regions. These individuals often have other characteristics such as impairments in sensory, speech, motor, cognitive and autonomic nervous system functioning, which also respond to neurotherapy.
Though there is disagreement to the genetic component, toxicity has been identified as a factor in the disorder (Edelson & Cantor, 1998).
Contributing factors of autism:
-
Metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, nickel, aluminum, cadmium, etc.)
-
Microbes (yeast infections, Lyme’s disease, etc.)
-
Diet & foods (nutritional deficiencies, genetically altered food, artificial flavors & sugars, casein & gluten, etc.)
-
Environmental elements (synthetic chemicals & electromagnetic fields) (Hill & Castro, 2009)
Clinical evidence of detoxification has produced improvements in brain, gastrointestinal and liver functioning (Pangborn & Baker, 2005).
At Achievement & Wellness Center, we offer advanced and comprehensive treatments for people struggling with the effects of autism. One of these treatments is EEG neurofeedback, and the results are remarkable.
Why neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is effective at addressing connectivity problems in the affected centers of the brain. Using information from the brain map, connectivity problems are addressed in the brains of these individuals. Neurofeedback provides recognizable benefits at whatever time it is brought into treatment. Research shows that the treatment benefits sustain beyond the therapy. After completing neurotherapy, patients are found to have ordered and calm brains and a restored balance of brainwave activity.
Effects of neurofeedback
Behavioral changes are observed quickly and depending on the results of the brain map, the degree of the remediation can be estimated. In longitudinal studies, treatment effects have been found to sustain well beyond the therapy. Using neurotherapy, brains become more ordered and calm. In fact, despite the extremes with brain maps where there is too much slow and fast wave activity simultaneously, neurofeedback helps to restore the balance of brain wave activity that is consistent with normal behaviors.
We serve the residents of Newtown, Richboro, Holland, Hamilton Township, Yardley and nearby communities.
